Merino Twist DK // New In The Shop & My BAO BAO Shawl

A few weeks into the fall season is the perfect time to share - there is new yarn in the shop!

I have had a rather productive few months since my last update, all things considered. July and August were spent dyeing an array of Super Sweet Sock colourways and replenishing popular Merino Lace and Cashmerino 20 colourways.

In September I dyed a lovely batch of Merino Twist DK, the star of today’s shop update. I focused on colourways that have pattern designs which feature them, such as my Traveller scarf, Riverbank cowl and Beachcomber’s Cowl. Smoke and Charcoal are available for those wanting to knit Graph McFadden’s lovely dk weight shawl, The Rain Outside. You’ll also find Ever Grey, one of the colourways chosen for Helen Stewart’s Simply Curious Hat. And with a few colourway substitutions you could knit my Old Pine cowl or the Dog Star and Clayoquot sweaters by Tincanknits.

This weekend I took a few shots of my BAO BAO shawl amongst the autumn leaves in my yard. I love the vintage vibe of this pattern, even more so with the Spiced Pumpkin and Vintage Lace combination. It’s an easy, rhythmic knit and is perfect for watching fall movies. The Merino Twist DK makes it extra cozy. I chose Worn Denim for the third colourway, I had been admiring my shawl next to my blue jeans as I knit and thought it would pair nicely. I used approximately 1.4 skeins of Vintage Lace, 1.3 skeins of Spiced Pumpkin and .4 of a skein of Worn Denim. All of the details can be found on my Ravelry project page. For the next little while I will be dyeing our worsted weight yarns. The first one on the list is the highly coveted Cashmerino Worsted. There are a few other yarns that will likely make an appearance before the end of the year, including a new one. After that I have a feeling I’ll reach my mid-winter it’s too cold to dye outside break. We will see how things go.
